The exhibition has a status of an “UFI Approved Event” and is supported by the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs for the high professionalism, efficiency and significant contribution to the Russian construction industry development.
In 2016 the exhibition was fully supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The exhibition opens up opportunities for intra-industry cooperation, promoting the creation of innovative solutions and products. According to the Ministry, this interaction contributes to the industry development and assists in the implementation of the programme “On the development strategy of building materials industry and industrial housing construction until 2020”.
The official opening ceremony took place on the first exhibition day. Among the honoured guests who welcomed the exhibitors and guests there were:
- Ilya Chigir, Director of Metallurgy and Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation;
- Nikolay Tsyganov, Presidium Member of “OPORA Russia” National Public Organization of Small and Medium Enterprises, Chairman of the Construction Committee;
- Vladislav Gerashchenko, President of the National Partnership of the Associations and Unions of Construction Materials Industry, Director of the Association of Ceramic Wall Materials Manufacturers;
- Mikhail Tolkachev, Deputy General Director of “Expocentre”.
Ilya Chigir read the welcome address of Gleb Nikitin, where the First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation expressed confidence that the fruitful work at the exhibition would provide an additional impulse to the industry development, contributing to the implementation of import substitution policy.
Nikolay Tsyganov, Presidium Member of “OPORA RUSSIA” National Public Organization of Small and Medium Enterprises welcomed the exhibitors and guests on behalf of Alexander Kalinin, the President of OPORA Russia“. He congratulated the organizers and exhibitors with exhibition opening and highlighted that open and competitive market was the main driver of industry development: “Construction Materials-2016” demonstrates the existence of this market in Russia in the best way“.
Mikhail Tolkachev noted that the first edition of the exhibition took place in 1999, when the market was filled with imported products. Today, during the implementation of import substitution programme, the exhibition managed to retain and multiply its relevance.
Despite the difficult economic situation, “Construction Materials” maintains a strong position on the Russia’s exhibition map. The exhibitor number has not decreased compared with the last year: 240 companies from 18 countries, including Austria, Armenia, Belgium, the UK, Germany, Greece, Spain, Italy, Canada, Portugal, Belarus, Korea, Russia, Serbia, the USA, Turkey, France and the Czech Republic participate at the show.

This year the “Construction Materials” exhibition was attended by over 12,000 visitors. The industry professionals directly involved in the construction sector showed a keen interest to the exhibition due to the high concentration of the modern technologies for building materials manufacturing.
CERAMATECH exposition of equipment, technologies and materials for the ceramic industry was held within the exhibition for the third time. This project serves as a timely initiative, necessary for the market development through fruitful cooperation between companies from Russia and abroad. The figures proved the growing interest to the exposition: in 2016 the number of CERAMATECH exhibitors increased by more than 10%. The exposition was supported by ECTS — European Ceramic Technology Suppliers Association.
Every year the events of the exhibition’s business programme become an efficient communication platform. The programme includes conferences and practical seminars on modern methods of the construction industry modernization, which are attended by the industry’s key players — leading manufacturers and distributors, industry associations, representatives of the scientific community and the governmental bodies.
The key event of the exhibition’s business programme was the coordination meeting of heads of the expert groups of the scientific and technical council for the development of building materials (products) and building structures industry under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The Meeting highlighted the proposals of the professional community on the draft Strategy of building materials industry development for the period up to 2020 and future perspectives up to 2030.
One of the features of the exhibition’s business programme is the fact that the organizers of the most activities are the exhibitors — the direct market players, who have something to say or share with a wider audience of experts.
“Genesis Engineering” Ltd. hosted a conference on “G-TECH composite hinged wall system. Opportunities for business development in the rental housing market”, which covered the high-rise construction trends and innovations for housing, office and administrative buildings.
The Association of Ceramic Wall Materials Manufacturers held a conference on “The best affordable technologies for ceramic wall materials manufacturing”. LSR. Stenovye-M" (Russia), BEDESCHI S.P.A (Italy), Wienerberger (Russia), SABO S.A. (Greece), Neftegazkhimkomplekt" (Russia) and other companies represented their products within the Conference.
The visitors were welcome to attend a master class on the application of Porotherm ceramic blocks, manufactured by Wienerberger, the worldwide leader in the production of ceramic bricks, and a seminar on wooden house insulation by using “Aktsent” professional sealants, “Warm seam” technology and OLIVA-DEKOR decorative coatings, presented by “OLIVA” paint factory.
